In my opinion there is a definite relationship with all three books that the class has read. This relationship is unfortunetly discrimination. The first book that group 4 read was Monster by Walter Dean Myers. Monster in a nut shell was about a sixteen year old black male who was charged with first degree murder. In the Book Thief and in Maus it was all about how Hitler was racist against the Jews, and anyone who did not look like they were German. A quote from Monster is when the defense attorney Petrocelli said that Steve was a "monster." This deeply affected him because Steve kept on writing it down time after time while his lawyer was talking to him and saying which strategy they should use. In conclusion Monster, Maus, and The Book Thief have a couple things in common. They are all great works of literature, and they all have tales of how racism once ruled the world, and how it is still here in todays world.

It's interesting to see you relate all three books because I have not done so. But after you pointed out to me the continued theme of discrimination I can see now how the units connect. It's definately hard to say in which book it's more previlant. But all are a good look into what people endure everyday of their lives.
